With its rolling hills and secluded coves, Saint Martin’s French side is a dream destination for beach lovers. This part of the island features everything from lively beaches with stylish beach clubs to quiet, hidden sands where you can truly unwind.
While Sint Maarten’s beaches are loud and vibrant, Saint Martin is where you can totally unwind. Whether you want to snorkel in crystal-clear waters, soak up the sun, or indulge in gourmet meals by the sea, there’s a beach here for every kind of traveler.
Ready to relax? Here are six of the best beaches in Saint Martin to add to your island itinerary.
Best Saint Martin Beaches
Orient Bay Beach (Baie Orientale)
Orient Bay Beach is the most famous beach on the French side – and for good reason. It's one of the largest beaches on the entire island. Plus, this lively stretch of sand is lined with upscale beach clubs and trendy dining spots.
Top bars here include Kakao, known for its indulgent service and fun ambience, and Kontiki, which serves some of the tastiest cocktails on the entire island. Make sure you stay for the sunset; Orient Bay’s golden-hour glow is unforgettable.
Looking for fun?
La Playa Watersports (located just north of Kontiki) offer everything from snorkeling and jet skis to parasailing. Meanwhile, the southern end of Orient Bay is home to a nudist beach, perfect if you're seeking a more European-style beach experience.

Baie Rouge (Red Bay)
Baie Rouge, or Red Bay, is one of the most underrated beaches in Saint Martin – it’s an excellent alternative to the buzzy Orient Bay Beach. The beach is perfect for swimming, and the rocky coves at either end offer some of the best snorkeling on the island.
If you’re craving even more quiet, wander to the far west end where you’ll find more secluded spots. Bring a picnic and enjoy a day of tranquility. We think early mornings are particularly serene here, with the beach practically to yourself.

Grand Case Beach
Don't visit Saint Martin without spending a day on Grand Case Beach. Just a short stroll from Saint Martin’s gourmet capital, it’s the ultimate spot to float in calm waves before indulging in a world-class meal.
If you’re visiting during the season (around March), don’t miss Mardi de Grand Case on Tuesday evenings. This lively festival brings the beach to life with local food stalls, live music, and colorful crafts.
The ultimate beach day here involves swimming in the warm waters, then sticking around for a sunset dinner at a beachfront restaurant – Rainbow Café is a popular pick.

Anse Marcel Beach
Anse Marcel Beach is hidden away beneath lush green hills. Its calm, shallow waters make it an ideal spot for families with young children. The beach is home to the exclusive Anse Marcel Beach Resort, where visitors can enjoy top-tier amenities and some of the finest dining in Saint Martin.
Despite its luxe feel, the beach remains relatively uncrowded due to its more remote location. Arrive early to snag a beach chair and stay for a fresh seafood lunch at the resort’s beachside restaurant. The journey to Anse Marcel may be a bit challenging - only accessible by car – but the serene, picture-perfect beach makes it well worth the effort.
Happy Bay Beach
Happy Bay Beach is a gem that is slowly becoming more popular. This unspoiled stretch of white sand is only accessible via a 15-minute walk from Friar’s Bay, adding to its private, untouched charm. Head there early to grab a spot under the shaded mangroves. If you arrive early, you might have the entire beach to yourself.
Since there are no major facilities here, it’s best to bring your own supplies, including snacks and plenty of water. While not technically a nude beach, this beach often attracts nudists thanks to its secluded nature (though this can be said about most beaches in Saint Martin!).

Long Beach (Baie Longue)
Long Beach – Baie Longue – is a tranquil corner of the island. As the name suggests, this beach stretches along the coast, offering plenty of room to spread out and relax.
Unlike some of the busier beaches, Long Beach remains relatively quiet, making it a perfect spot for a more intimate beach day. There are no major facilities here, but the natural beauty and calm waters make it one of our favorites. Bring your snorkeling gear – on a calm day, the underwater visibility is exceptional.
You'll need to head through the Terres Bases entrance to access this beach. It's gated, but let the guards know where you're heading and they'll let you through.
